2010 Arkansas Razorbacks: College Football BCS Predictions

Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Arkansas Razorbacks at 35-1 in college football predictions to win the 2010 BCS National Championship. The Razorbacks are a loaded offensive team that should be able to hang around most every game and perhaps pull off some upsets in college football odds along the way. Last year the Hogs went 8-5 straight up and 7-4-1 against the college football betting spread as they won the Liberty Bowl over East Carolina 20-17 in head coach Bobby Petrino’s 2nd year on the job. Petrino was known for developing high tech explosive offenses during his highly successful days at Louisville and that reputation is starting to take root in Fayetteville as the Hogs showed a 15 point improvement to average 36 points per game in 2009.

Junior quarterback Ryan Mallett returns after winning 2nd team all SEC honors last year after passing for 3,624 yards and a whopping 30 touchdowns. His top 5 receivers all return for 2010 college football odds led by 3rd team all SEC receiver Greg Childs, who had 48 catches and 7 touchdowns last year while averaging close to 19 yards per reception. The defense allowed 25 points per game and returns 7 starters. Improvement is also expected on that side of the line as they shaved a touchdown per game off the average from 2008.

As one would expect the SEC schedule won’t be easy for the Hogs but is loaded with possibility. They travel to Georgia on September 18 before hosting defending BCS champion Alabama the following week. They will also play at Cowboys Stadium against another offensive juggernaut in Texas A&M of the Big 12 and have tough road games against improved teams from Auburn and South Carolina while hosting LSU in the SEC finale. With Mallett the Hogs could make dangerous underdogs as no lead will be too safe for the chalks and Arkansas may bite some big chalks this year. They are a legit SEC contender.
